before leaving for my vacation, i had a woooonderful wedding with two clients i simply adore. rob & kel and i share so many things in common, it borders on eerie. we grew up in the same city. i *almost* went to the same high school (haha). we all went to cal (go bears!!!). we all love star wars. i better stop here before i incrimate myself.
rob & kel are just a delightful, laid back couple and it was a true pleasure working with them every step of the way. their beautiful wedding took place at grand newport plaza (the turnip rose) and i really loved working at this location. the staff is AMAZING and everything ran like clockwork. here is a lovely look at the day through the lenses of ray + erwin of apertura photo. it was my first time working with these guys and it was a blast!

a moody, beautiful portrait

kelly wore a scrumptious monique lhuillier dress — everyone knows monique is my fave

sash train!! kelly had a super sweet bridal party and it was great being with them all day.

the groomsmen were quite rad as well!

isn’t this an adorable bridal party pic?? i heart that rob is peeking around the column.

final touch ups in the bridal suite, as super-maid-of-honor looks on.

i love this peek-a-boo ceremony shot!

one of the most precious flowergirls ever!

details! colors were chocolate brown and blush pink. we covered the tables in chocolate pintuck linens, gold-rimmed chargers, and chocolate napkins. pink florals courtesy of flower allie brought romance and elegance to the tabletops. each placesetting included a menu and a tasty candied apple from cal-snacks. tables were named after buildings at cal. rob and kel were in each photo of each building. it was such a walk down memory lane for me!!

doesn’t rob look so debonair here? i loooooooved kelly’s beautiful hair flower made by the lovely & talented myra kim of twigs & honey. everything myra crafts is simply breathtaking.

loooooove the look on kel’s face during her maid-of-honor’s toast

during the best man’s toast, rob was challenged to solve a rubik’s cube in front of the crowd. apparently rob did this a lot in college.
it was SO awesome to watch him work on the cube as his college pals sang this hilarious ditty! when he had completed the cube (in 3 mins-ish!!), he threw it on the dancefloor in triumph.

guests had a great time on the dancefloor thanks to dj jerry of carcano dj.

the turnip rose dazzled guests with their “festival of strawberries.” it’s basically a decadent display of chocolate covered strawberries (one of my fave things!), infused with your choice of liquer. yummm
guests also enjoyed a fantastic photobooth brought in by cheesy photobooths!
rob & kel: you two were nothing but gracious and kind to me throughout the planning process. i loved getting to know you both and it was an honor to assist you on your big day! it was just as beautiful as i knew it would be. congrats to you two; hope to see you at a home game this fall!! xoxo
shoutouts to three other fab vendors not mentioned above: walter pawluk videography, nicole thompson for hair/makeup (gorgeous work!) and the incredible guitarist/musician pete goslow for the ceremony and cocktail hour music. when i heard him singing his rendition of some jack johnson tunes, i knew i needed his card! highly recommend.
p.s. tomorrow i am doing the unthinkable… I am getting a digital perm on my super-straight, super silky, never-been-permed/colored hair! ahh! i love my long, straight hair but was recently inspired by the digital perm of blogger pal tiffany of i am style-ish. i adore the look of big, bouncy curls and it’s about time for a change, right? let’s hope i don’t come home a hideous, frizzy mess.
i will definitely give you an update after i have a day or two to get used to it. wish me luck!

beautiful. the turnip rose was on our short list.
so great to see you today! sending lots of good perm/korean salon ladies who listen vibes your way.
