jaime + chris, october ’07

just a few weeks ago, i was sitting back and watching this magical wedding unfold. jaime had hired me, almost a year prior, for full planning and event design. together we labored over every detail of the event which would be held at her parents’ elegant and stately home in pasadena. to reflect the warmth of fall, she selected a palette that focused on rich oranges and chocolate brown. the ceremony was held under a pair of majestic old trees in the front yard, dressed up with brightly-colored pomanders suspended from ribbons. the cocktail hour was held pool-side, with guests cuddled in pashminas, enjoying lychee martinis and the sounds of the sultry Spanish guitar.

the grand reception was held under the stars on the tennis court, which had been carpeted for the event. we used pipe and drape and dramatic orange uplights to create a breezy, romantic atmosphere without a cramped tent. the dinner featured a duet of soy glazed sea bass and asian-style slow cooked short ribs. yum!! for dessert, a decadent buffet of treats (including 3 types of creme brulee and 3 types of cheesecake!) accompanied the tempting cake.

although the rain came down HARD the night prior to the wedding, not a drop came down on the big day. we had been watching the forecast all week, but i had a strong gut feeling that things would clear up for the wedding. as i sat and watched this perfect event unfold, i was taken aback by the magic of it all. i could not have imagined a better outcome, and jaime’s delight at the results only intensified mine.

i am pleased to share these photos with you, courtesy of my good friend chenin of boutwell studio. she is an absolute doll to work with, and i love her strong sense of style, which comes through beautifully in her images. make sure to check out her delightful blog, too!

i looove this pic of them, with the dazzling blue of the pool behind them.

i love the feel of this portrait… it has a slightly vintage feel to it. the delicate purple blooms in the foreground make it perfect.

delicious details everywhere you turn!

jaime + chris: it was truly a labor of love to work with you on this event! i enjoyed working on every last detail of your enchanting wedding. i have to mention this one cute story! the week of the wedding, we were at the rentals office, finalizing quantities. the sales lady asked if jaime and i were friends, to which jaime answered, “we are now!” i was so filled with gratitude in that moment.

it wasn’t the first time a vendor has asked that question. when they see the way i interact with my clients, they often assume we must be old friends. i can say that i am truly lucky to develop such precious relationships with my clients as we work together on these incredible events.

all in all it was a magical night, and i was blessed to play a role in it.

our vendor team was large and in charge!

i hope you are all enjoying a terrific weekend! xoxo – angel
