sneak peek of my last wedding of 2007!

last wednesday (yes, wednesday!) i ended my 2007 wedding season on a high note. my clients had hired me only a couple of months before the big day and desired to hold a very intimate and romantic wedding and reception by the sea. the unique day of the week was because the couple saw it as a highly auspicious day of the year.

it all took place at the stunning la venta inn in palos verdes. although i don’t have the professional photos yet, i know they will be beautiful and fashion-forward. they hired the wonderful danielle biel of skye blu photography, a good friend of love & splendor. 😉 we had a great time working together and i can’t wait to see the final product. once i have all of those pics, i will post a more formal recap.

for now, i thought it would be fun to give you a sneak peek courtesy of kris & joe at the treasured petal. you’ve heard this name a lot on my blog lately… kristin happens to be one of my best friends from college and we were bridesmaids in each others’ weddings! while studying psychology (kris) and poli sci/history (me) at berkeley, we daydreamed about doing something creative instead of continuing on our predictable career paths. sooner than i expected, i had left law school and jumped into wedding planning and coordination! kristin had worked with flowers since our days at cal, and began free-lancing and designing for some prominent orange county wedding florists. in late 2006 she made the big leap and started taking weddings on her own. i think she is insanely talented!! i would never refer my brides to anyone i didn’t completely trust AND see as a stylish, capable professional. it just happens to be a fab bonus that one of my favorite florists happens to be one of my very best friends!

here is a glimpse of our collaboration on this gorgeous wedding! photos were taken by her equally talented (and totally rad) husband, joe.

a stunning floral interpretation of the eiffel tower… standing 3.5″ feet tall. the couple was engaged at the site in paris, so we thought it would be a sweet symbol. we affixed wallet sized engagement photos to the tower for a little more personalization.

instead of using the on-site gazebo, my client dreamed of an arch dripping with flowers and crystals. a lush carpet of petals led the way down the aisle.

(a closer look at the arch) i loved the sheer panels of fabric on the arch that blew gently in the ocean breezes.

another view of the arch, adorned with hanging clear and pink crystals and vases filled with roses.

the hanging vases

a view into the room… things were 100x more dramatic as night fell and the pink uplighting was amplified. don’t you love the hanging pomanders inside the vases??

a closer look at those lovely centerpieces

i LOVE this shot that joe caught as we tore down the arch at the end of the night. the view from la venta is stunning 24 hours a day!

after everything had been cleaned up, packed and double-checked, kris, joe + i headed for some celebratory pinkberry! it was a perfect way to end an incredible year.

hope you are all having a wonderful week!

quick dad update: he has been readmitted to USC University Hospital since discovering a pretty serious leak of cerebrospinal fluid. he has been in since monday and there is no sign of him leaving yet. this will most likely postpone his recovery and the removal of his sutures (originally planned for Friday). i appreciate your continued concern and prayers.
