despite the spotty rain and general dreariness, i had a wonderful weekend filled with great food + great times.
it began on saturday, when i spent most of the day at the bridal shower of my dear client jenny. it was a beautiful event held at her parents’ home and i was honored to share in the celebration!
jenny & some of her college friends. it was a treat to meet so many of the bridesmaids at the shower. they’re a great group of down-to-earth girls.
jenny and her darling mother! aren’t they gorgeous? jenny is always impeccably dressed and saturday was no exception! i loved her kay unger dress.
the food at the shower was INCREDIBLE, thanks to the fabulous team from the kitchen for exploring foods. ‘the kitchen’ is one of the best caterers in soCal and the guests raved about the delicious menu. passed hors d’oeuvres included mini grilled gruyère cheese sandwiches topped with fig compote, smoked salmon + cucumber ribbons, toast crisps topped with mushroom ragoût, and adorable mini BLT bites: hollowed cherry tomatoes filled with lettuce, bacon, + mayo goodness. YUM!!
the scrumptious buffet display!
the lunch menu featured curried chicken salad, farfalle with sundried tomato and asparagus, open-faced shrimp toasts, various tea sandwiches, and two deeeelectable chef-served soups: corn chowder + mushroom bisque. i just *had* to try both soups and they were incredibly comforting and tasty. it’s business research, right?? i loved the voluminous hydrangea on the buffet, too.
i teamed up with jenny’s college friends for the infamous toilet-paper bride game…
our double-braid belt + sash ensured our victory. sweet!! i won a lovely gray pashmina. 😉
the lunch buffet was transformed into a tempting dessert display. highlights included macaroons, truffles, cookies, and warm chocolate bread pudding à la mode!
it was a truly lovely afternoon! i didn’t think it was possible.. but i’m even MORE excited for this wedding. she’s hired the fab jasmine star as her photographer, so you know i’ll report back with lots of incredible photos after the big day! jenny – thanks again for the invite. 😉 xoxo
sunday was a near perfect day. i woke up and headed to church, and then drove straight to pasadena for a delightful tea luncheon with the ladies of my family. it all took place at chado tea room, which has some wonderful teas. their tea menu (more like a paperback book!) lists nearly 200 varieties of tea to try.
3-tiers of tastiness!
chado’s afternoon tea includes a pot of tea (i went with passion berry – a black tea with sweet berries and passionfruit), four tea sandwiches, a scone with cream + jelly, cookies, and a slice of cake. everything was delicious and it was great to catch up with everyone.
i hope your weekends were equally enjoyable. 😉 have a fantastic week!
