what a weekend! i had a lovely free saturday, but spent most of it in eager anticipation for sunday’s wedding. despite record heat and an insane sunburn that’s still with me (ouch!), everything turned out perfectly. working with p&j was a breeze. i was immediately drawn to their soft, springy palette of light blues, soft sage green, peach and white. the overall look was elegant and breezy chic. also, p happens to be a budding stationery designer, and all of her printed ephemera was simply gorgeous. i can’t wait to show you more detailed photos of her handiwork!
for now, i have just a few photos to share. on board that day were some of my favorite wedding vendors: michael norwood (and josh!) for the fabulous photography, joe from ttd weddings for videography, kate baker florals, dickenson west fine catering, elegant designs specialty linens, and rosebud cakes for the edible work of art. thank you to all of you for making my job such a delight. and p&j — you two are so special to me. thank you for sharing the planning of your day, and its beautiful culmination, with me. xoxo!
the ceremony and reception took place at the breathtaking greystone mansion in beverly hills. it is the largest home ever built in beverly hills, and actually very close to my mom’s new home. 😉 commissioned by oil baron edward doheny, the house was built as a gift to his son. it cost over $3 million to build back in 1928. the city of beverly hills dedicated the estate as a city park in 1971, and it is now enjoyed as a public garden, special events venue and filming location.
outside the central courtyard guests were greeted by this striking manzanita branch arrangement, dotted with clusters of hydrangea and roses. on the table are personalized escort cards fashioned as bookmarks. each one also had a mini-button attached to it with the guest’s first name. i saw many a guest sporting these adorable pins all night long. 😉
a closer look…
a wide shot of the central courtyard, prepped for dinner. we had a fun mix of square and round tables, all coverd in silky mocha linens. in the distance you can spot our cake cabana. 🙂
here’s a closer look at the placesettings. each guest took home two favors: boxed lindt truffles and a set of matches (“the perfect match”) with a scented candle + tartlet for burning. the menus (and all of the stationery) were made to look like books. note the chopsticks tucked into the “binding” of the menu…
the billowy cabana was a perfect housing for the classic cake. i love the chandelier peggy supplied for the cabana, featuring glittering crystals that glinted blue in the sunlight.
adoooored this cake! rosebud did a splendid job at creating a beautifully smooth surface with buttercream. the frosting has the slightest pearlescent sheen to it. just darling.
i wish i had photos of the ceremony to share, but i will note that peggy walked down the aisle to “only time” by enya, played by angelica strings. the aisle was marked with a modern strip of white carpet amidst mahogany wood folding chairs. johnny and peggy recited personal vows to one another, and johnny even repeated them during the reception. it was very touching… the love between these two was palpable to all, and we all basked in their glow throughout the evening.
i also may have heard the best impression of nat king cole EVER by ricky silvia of the buzzcatz. this band was FABULOUS and the crowd loved them.
another successful weekend!! i hope you’re all having a lovely week so far. thanks for stopping by! xoxo
