hello, dear readers! 2009 has been utterly AMAZING so far. i cannot wait to share all that is in store for L&S this year with all of you! for now, i still have a handful of fabulous 2008 weddings to blog. i thought i’d kick off with this blast from the past…
alina and michael were wed in april at the stunning st. vincent catholic church in los angeles, and followed up their traditional mass with a beautiful blush-toned party at the westin pasadena. (many kudos to michael, for being such a laid-back groom. lesser men would tremble at the thought of such a pink-hued event, but not michael!) alina and i were instant friends. not only did we bond over our shared hapa heritage, we just felt so at ease with one another. our meetings were filled with so much laughter!! i love this girl to pieces and am so pleased to share these lovely photos of her day with you!
deep thanks are in order for the wonderful mike & emi of evoke photography for their talented imagery. i love working with this duo; they create gorgeous work every.single.time.
alina’s romantic bouquet was a lush gathering of peonies and ranunculus in varying rosy shades.
the glowing bride! stylist joyce luck is putting the final touches on alina’s veil.
the bridesmaids carried textural posies that included roses, hyacinth, and spidery gloriosa lillies.
michael and the men, looking quite dashing!
i LOVE this portrait of the couple! alina’s dress had an old hollywood glamour to it; it suited her perfectly!
the flowergirls carried sweet pomanders composed of hydrangea, roses and lisianthus.
escort cards were created using rubber stamps + hand lettering. they made a charming display perched on a fluffy bed of tightly-packed carnation blooms.
enter the ballroom! pink silk linens were matched with fruitwood chiavaris and chocolate satin seat covers & napkins.
half of the tables had these tall centerpieces, bursting with roses, ranunculus and gloriosa lilies. the curly willow added additional dramatic height.
the other tables had these low arrangements, packed with the same pink blooms.
the sweetheart table had its own special arrangement, with an extra touch of the spidery gloriosas.
a simple white cake was adorned with fondant cherry blossoms (hard to see in this photo!). wedding photos of the bride & groom’s parents flanked either side of the confection, for a nostalgic touch.
i’ll end with this sweet moment between alina + michael, with the lovely pasadena city hall in the background.
