I can’t believe it’s been so long since my last post! Since my latest entry, I’ve completed two weddings and am now on the eve of a double-header weekend (to wrap another 4 weddings in 3 weeks!). Needless to say, life has been very busy! I cannot wait to share the incredible images from my recent weddings with you! After this weekend’s events I will have FIVE fabulous weddings to blog… and of course, this one makes six!
Annie & David are an intensely sweet couple and meetings with them were always filled with laughter. Both of them are physicians in training, having just finished med school and heading into their residency programs this fall! We planned a good deal of this wedding long-distance (while they were at Emory) but the vision was clear from the start: a simple, modern, elegant day with playful nods to a favorite fascination: video games! I giggled all day setting up towering centerpieces dripping with phalaenopsis orchids next to custom cookie favors in the shape of Toad and Fire Flowers from Super Mario Brothers. Tables were named after favorite vintage video games… things like Street Fighter, Tetris and Kingdom Hearts. The cake was topped with figurines representing Donkey Kong and Princess Daisy, and believe me it took some creative maneuvering so it didn’t look like DK was about to knock Daisy over the head with his mallet. 🙂
My favorite part of the evening was when David performed a special song for his bride… The Mario Kart Love Song by Sam Hart. (You can see the original performed by Sam by clicking that link — how adorable are the lyrics??) If you’ve ever played Mario Kart, you’ll find the song positively delightful. Is it weird to tear up during a song about a video game?? 😉
The joyful day was captured brilliantly by my dear friend Chenin Boutwell. Chenin is such a wonderful person to work with on a wedding day; she is so positive, focused and fun! She also creates some of my favorite images ever — how sweet are the following snaps of the day?
I LOVE this portrait of Annie, and the sweep of her veil. Gorgeous!
Fresh florals in shades of green and white! I spy white anenomes… some of my favorites!
The beautiful bridal party! Note the men’s footwear… 🙂
A bit of foreshadowing — one of the five (gasp!) weddings I have to blog took place where this photo was snapped — Pasadena City Hall.
The wedding ceremony took place at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Pasadena.
The reception took place at the Pasadena Masonic Temple!
Annie & David — Thank you so much for inviting me into your lives and allowing me to play a part in your wedding day! You two are a very special pair and I treasure the friendship we’ve built! I look forward to keeping in touch for years ahead~ Praying for you both and your new adventures as Dr. & Dr.!
- Ceremony: Westminster Presbyterian Church

Funny final note — Michelle was my assistant on this wedding (while Anna was taking care of Helen & Mark!) and I could not help but crack up at the end of the night as a smitten guest confessed his love to her. I jokingly tell people a wedding isn’t over until Anna gets hit on by a guest. I guess now I can say a love & splendor wedding isn’t over until any one of my beautiful team members gets hit on! 🙂
Have a marvelous weekend, everyone! I’ll be back next week with a super-stylish engagement session, some fab finds for the summer and a glimpse into some of the special projects I’m working on for upcoming weddings. Now back to work for me! My two weddings this weekend consist of copious amounts of lime green cymbidium orchids, mini strawberry milkshakes and kumquats, crisp navy blue and monarch butterflies (the motif, not the real thing). Intrigued?? xoxo, Angel
