sneak peek – stef & jason, 3.29.08

saturday’s elegant wedding took place at the gorgeous fairmont miramar hotel in santa monica. the couple hired me only a month ago, so we quickly got to work designing the finer details of their wedding. i was delighted with the results and wish our time together had been longer!

sidenote… if anyone out there is looking for a fabulous wedding location in soCal, you need to check out the fairmont miramar. the staff is top notch (special thank you to ali, lupe & william) and the grounds are just amazing. my favorite feature is the awe-inspiring moreton bay fig tree in the valet driveway. a historical landmark, the tree is the 2nd largest of its kind in CA and is 80 feet tall, with the network of branches extending 120 feet! we had the distinct pleasure of holding the cocktail hour outside and beneath the tree. wait till you see the pics…

on-hand to provide the breathtaking and lush florals was the always-fab kristin of the treasured petal. stef wanted something very romantic and natural, evoking the feel of a lush victorian garden. colors included creams and various shades of purple, accented with splashes of green. here is a sneak peek of some of the beauty of the day, captured by kristin’s rad hubby, joe.

a loose cluster of flowers adorned the chairs that lined the aisle. you can see the huppah in the background…

the ethereal huppah had poles draped in garlands of flowers that included anemones (one of my absolute favorite blooms!), roses, hydrangea, sweet pea and lilac.

a closer look at the huppah flowers

each pole was placed in an urn overflowing with blooms and vines

i love this shot of the escort card table! i stamped table numbers in eggplant ink onto soft white business cards. they were placed inside baby envelopes in three colors (lavendar, sage and cream) to denote meal choices. the finishing touch was romantic handwriting and a floral stamp to tie everything together. kristin’s silver bucket arrangement was a perfect complement.

the gorgeous centerpieces utilized the same florals, along with ranunculus, parrot tulips and peonies, lushly draping over the edges of a silver urn. the look was classic and elegant — perfect for the stately wedgewood ballroom at the fairmont! the bride made the simple table numbers, and i added the small floral stamp in the corner. it became a motif, seen on menus, programs, escort cards and favor tags!

i will have dazzling pro-pics to share with you eventually, but i had to give you this initial glimpse. 😉 in addition to having a magnificent wedding, stef & jason have another fab accomplishment on their resumés: they are both CAL grads! (go bears!!) you know how i love working with fellow bears… it is uncanny how many i have as clients this year.

although our time of working together was brief, i felt very invested in this event since i took on so many detail projects. i loved being able to help on the design side.  i was flattered when stef asked me to do the hand-lettering for the escort cards and relished the final product.

stef & jason are currently in thailand on their honeymoon, but they took the time to send me this sweet note before they left. it melted my heart!!

Dear Angel,

Thank you once again for helping us have the most special, romantic, and beautiful day of our lives. We had a blast, and our guests did too, thanks to your organization and attention to detail. The programs, favor tags, menus, and placecards were gorgeous, and really brought everything together. It would not have been the spectacular day it was without your help, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. The flowers certainly lived up to my imagination and beyond, so thank you for putting me in touch with the talented Kristin as well. Together, you two (and Anna of course) really perfected the day.

Love,
Stefanie and Jason

S&J — the pleasure was all mine! have a relaxing time in thailand; see you when you get back!

xoxo, angel

BTW, I THINK I know who the “lilac fairy” is- one of the caterers. I saw her secretly adding extra flowers to the cocktail area. hahaha!
